A Wireless Power Transfer System with Reconfigurable Series/Parallel (RSP) Receiver

This paper proposes a wireless power transfer system with reconfigurable series/parallel (RSP) receiver (RX), which can adaptively change its topology to either series-series (SS) or series-parallel (SP) by sensing the load current. This leads to a high system efficiency under all load conditions. The RX IC is fabricated in TSMC 0.25μm 5V/40V BCD process and occupies an area of 1.571.90mm. Compared with conventional SS topology, measurement results show a maximum 10% efficiency improvement at 0.8W output power.
